 A new exhibition bringing together expressive seascape painting and master craftsmanship.

I’m delighted to finally share something I’ve been working towards for some time.

In August, I’ll be exhibiting alongside master furniture designer Edward Wild in Disciplined Fluidity — a collaborative exhibition bringing together contemporary furniture and expressive seascape painting.

Although our practices are very different, the exhibition grew from a shared understanding of making: the balance between structure and freedom, precision and intuition, discipline and flow.

My work in the exhibition will include paintings from Whispers of Twilight, a collection that feels especially meaningful in this context. Many of these pieces grew from walks Ed and I shared along the North Devon coast — evenings spent watching the light change, the tide move and the landscape slowly disappear into dusk.

Those experiences stayed with me and eventually found their way into the paintings through memory, atmosphere, expressive mark-making and layered mixed media.

Alongside the original paintings, I’ll also be showing work from Arms of the Ocean, with my premium limited-edition prints and the smaller open-edition Minis.

For the exhibition I’ve also created a series of Field Notes for the work — small reflections that sit alongside each piece and offer a glimpse into the walks, memories and moments behind the paintings. It has been such a lovely way of bringing the story of the work into the exhibition itself.
